Modern Exhibit Poster
1. Research
The exhibition I chose to create a poster for was The Responsive Eye, which was on display in the MoMA from February 23 to April 25 in 1965. The exhibit includes artwork from Yaacov Agam, Joseg Albers, Getulio Alviani, Richard Anuszkiewicz, Edward Avedisian, and 91 more artists.

The main elements in this exhibit are line, shape, and color. Most of the artists use one or all of these elements to create interesting optical illusions. For example, in the artwork above, the shapes are painted on grooved aluminum, causing the shapes to appear more or less defined, depending on where the viewer is standing. In the piece to the right, the close repetition of circles and the use of complementary colors draws the viewer’s eyes to the center. As represented by the title, this exhibit seems to emphasize the power of the eye and the subjectivity of vision. The more time you spend looking at the artwork, the more details you may be able to catch.
